  • c.8300 - c.7300 B.C. - Fosna-Hensbacka culture.[1]
  • c.1700 B.C. - Nordic Bronze Age begins.[2]
  • 787 A.D. - First recorded Viking raid in which men from Norway sail to Portland, England.
  • June 8, 793 - Vikings destroy the abbey at Lindisfarne
  • 794 - Vikings attack Lindisfarne's mother-house of Iona in Scotland.
  • 795 - Vikings raid Ireland
  • 802 - Using bases in northern Ireland, Vikings attack Iona again.
  • 839 - Vikings invade the Pictish kingdom of Fortriu via two rivers
  • 841 - 902 - Vikings found the cities of Cork, Dublin, and Limerick
  • 911 - Normandy captured by Vikings
  • 947 - Eric Bloodaxe captures York
  • 986 - Vikings invade Greenland
  • c. 1000 - Vikings discover the New World and found the colony of Vinland on present-day Newfoundland
  • c. 1050 - Viking Age comes to an end.[3]
